Audi 2009

With a compressor Eaton four-lobe of improving the intake pressure to a maximum of 11.6 psi situation, married to a 3.0-liter V-6 makes A6 3.0T Quattro 300 hp and 310 lb-ft pair. It is basically the same engine that the future 333-hp 2010 Audi S4 with power supply.

Mash the gas from a stop, and the 3.0T has a linear force propels the 4114-lb sedan to 60 mph in 5.5 seconds, 1.5 seconds earlier than the old 255-hp, 3.1-liter -A6 Quattro hit that mark. Certainly, the xDrive BMW 535i and Mercedes E550 4MATIC are faster, but requires the BMW twin-turbo, and the Benz has eight cylinders. More importantly, he can not have the 3.0T 's is equal to 18 mpg city and 26 on the highway. One big surprise is that this new Audi is the future in the current V-8-powered A6 4.2 quattro, despite the larger engine 50 hp advantage.

This morning, Green Car Journal confirmed the five finalists up for nomination as the 2010 Green Car of the Year®, including the Audi A3 TDI, Honda Insight, Mercury Milan Hybrid, Toyota Prius and Volkswagen Golf TDI. The winner will be announced on December 3rd at a press conference during the media preview days at the LA Auto Show which, unlike last year, we’ll actually be attending. Also unlike last year, we find the majority of the nominees surprisingly fun to drive and genuinely deserving of the accolades (”majority” being the operative word, the jury’s still out on the Insight).
Unfortunately, our humble opinion will have very little bearing as the winner of this year’s prestigious award will be chosen by a star-studded panel of judges that in years past have included the likes of Jean-Michel Cousteau, Carroll Shelby, and the Crimson Chin himself, Jay Leno. We will, however, have the exclusive privilege of sitting somewhere in the back of the convention hall and straining to hear the ceremonial address as we try to get our new camera to focus, so check back later for official updates.

Last week, we broke the news that the very thinly disguised “concept” known as the Audi e-tron was approved for production, but there was a catch. Contrary to what all exterior cues would suggest, the Audi e-tron would not be a plug-in version of the R8 but rather a sporty EV placed somewhere in size between the famed R8 and the compact TT. Today, we have learned that the e-tron will not be a model unto itself but rather a badge denoting the type of powertrain (similar to what Toyota has announced they will do with “Prius) and the first vehicle to wear the e-tron badge will be known as the Audi R4.
In addition to the lithium-ion e-tron, the R4 will also be offered with at least two other standard gasoline powertrains, though Audi has yet to reveal which ones. However, because the R4 is intended to sit on Audi’s line-up as a premium vehicle roughly equivalent in price and attainability to the R8, it’s safe to assume that output will be impressive and we could even see a TT-RS transplant.
