Ford Mondeo

Ford is working on a four-door coupe version of its successful Mondeo. It will be a sportier car, that will compete with cars like Volkswagen Passat CC and Mercedes CLS. The car is expected to go on sale in 2012. The coupe version will be unveiled after the sedan will receive its facelift in 2010.
The Mondeo Coupe will feature frameless side windows, vertical air vents behind the front wheels, finned C-pillars, translucent 3D tail lights, adjustable seats and the new black panel MMI touchscreen interface.
Of course the coupe will be much more expensive than the regular sedan, but for those money you will receive better technology: a start-stop system that will help reducing consumption and emissions, adaptive cruise control that can recognize speed limits, park system and many other goodies.http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com
Under the hood Ford will place the best engines currently found in the Mondeo: the 175bhp 2.2-litre diesel from the Titanium X Sport model and a turbocharged 217bhp 2.5-litre petrol five-cylinder. The engine will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission, but an option Ford will also offer the new Powershift double-clutch gearbox.
Prices are expected to be in the $50.000 range.

Lotus 2012

The weight conscious sports car builder Lotus is very busy with the development of their new Elise and Esprit models. The smaller Elise is set to debut in 2011 and will be an even more developed version of what we see on the road today.
While on the other hand, the Esprit, set to be unveiled in 2012, is dependent on how well the automaker does selling their Evora model. The Esprit will be a longer, wider version of the new Evora powered by a V8 mounted in the mid-ship position.http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com
Lotus hopes that by 2012 they will be moving anywhere from 4000 to 5000 units per year. But the future looks a little dim for the English company, as the deal with to produce a future sports car has been canceled and the Europa-based Dodge Circuit electric car also taking a dirt nap Lotus hopes that their new Evora will help them weather these hard times.http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com

Lotus 2011

While the new mid-engined Lotus Evora is currently the subject of most conversation regarding the Hethel-based sports and racing car builder, come 2011, buyers will be given yet another option. The Esprit nameplate will return to an all-new Lotus vehicle that will be based on a wider, longer version of the Evora's architecture. These renderings are our best look yet at what the Esprit will look like when it arrives in the flesh.

aking clear styling cues from both the Evora and the the Elise/Exige, the new Esprit brings plenty of exotic flair to the premium sports car segment. Its steeply raked windscreen and sharp, aggressive nose leave little doubt as to the Esprit's racy intentions.

The upcoming Esprit, like the last iteration of its predecessor, is slated to use a mid-mounted V-8 engine. Unfortunately,What we do know is that a new Esprit would take its place atop the Lotus lineup, being the most powerful - and sophisticated - car offered by an automaker known for lightweight, spartan sports cars.

Meanwhile, the Elise, Exige, and Evora would continue to be sold alongside the Esprit - the Evora will even get a convertible variant that is slated to http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com make its debut slightly ahead of its bigger brother. Should all go according to plan, we can expec debut in late 2010 or early 2011.

Lexus

http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com
Like AMG powerplants, each LFA V-10 will be handbuilt by one man. In fact, there are two; both are employees of Yamaha (which also designed the V-10's heads). Each man will finish an engine every two days.

As you might expect, the six-speed transmission (a rear-mounted transaxle) is a paddle-shift auto-clutch manual, but, likely due to manufacturing dictates fixed long ago, it's a single-clutch unit -- not a contemporary dual-clutch design. No slouch at spin himself, Tanahashi says, "I wanted the more natural shifting feel of a regular manual.http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com"
The LFA first materialized in aluminum. But when even the light alloy didn't meet Tanahashi's fastidious weight targets, he largely scrapped it and opted instead for carbon-fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). The final LFA chassis sports a CFRP central tub with aluminum subframes front and rear; the package is wrapped in carbon-fiber bodywork. Total weight savings versus aluminum: about 220 pounds. All CFRP work is performed in-house. It doesn't hurt that Toyota has a long history in textiles, but switching from sweaters to weaving carbon fiber required lavish expenditures in tech and tools. (Look for future Lexus CFRP as Toyota monitizes its investment http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com.)
The LFA rides on an aluminum suspension, dual-control arms up front and a multilink setup at the rear. Steering features electric power assist so as not to deplete a dollop of engine output.

Volkswagen New Beetle

The Volkswagen New Beetle is set to debut in 2012, with a bigger back seat and hopefully some other changes that will revive its lagging fortune. The small city car has proved to be a model that Volkswagen subsequently ignored, but the success of the Fiat 500 shows there’s still a market out there for small car revivals.
If our reports last year are anything to go by, the Volkswagen New Beetle making it far more competitive to the Mini and Fiat 500 than it previously was. While sources indicate that Volkswagen is going for a low-cost, entry-level vehicle, we think that the new-new Beetle is going to have to be something special to get back the sales it first had on appearing in 1998. We’re thinking coupe, sports-style  (Mini Coupe Cocept anyone?), meaning that the low-cost bracket might not be so achievable.www.newcarsgreen.blogspot.com

BMW

BMW HAS TODAY REVEALED new details for its Vision EfficientDynamics concept ahead of the car’s official unveiling at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month.
Showcasing a blend of the German carmaker’s current and future technologies, BMW describes the Vision concept as a “symbol for the future of sheer driving pleasure”
The technology-laden Vision concept is powered by a diesel-electric hybrid system, featuring a conventional 1.5 litre 3-cylinder turbo-diesel mated to a pair of electric motors.
The combination achieves a total output of 265kW and a startling 800Nm of torque.
The mid-mounted diesel engine, developing 122kW and 290Nm of torque, is joined by electric motors positioned at the front and rear axles, improving weight distribution and effectively making the Vision concept all-wheel-drive.
The rear electric motor, positioned between the diesel engine and the double-clutch transmission, produces 25kW and 291Nm of torque, but can deliver short bursts of power up to 38kW.
Up front, the second electric motor produces 50kW and 219Nm of torque in standard mode. For a 30 second period it can increase output to 83kW, and for 10 seconds, a 103kW burst can be had.
The Vision has been developed to run on electric power alone (50km range), diesel only (645km) or a combination of the two.
Connected to Europe’s standard mains power outlets (220V, 16Amps), the Vision EfficientDynamics Concept’s lithium-ion battery packs needs only 2.5 hours to achieve a full charge, and 44 minutes if a more powerful source is used.
A six-speed dual-clutch transmission - a new economy-focused version of the transmission used in current BMW models -handles gear shifting duties.
The BMW Vision EfficientDynamics concept boasts performance figures on par with the current generation M3 Coupe, with BMW claiming a top speed of 250km/h and the 0-100km/h sprint in just 4.8 seconds.
In keeping with its environmental credentials, BMW also claims the Vision concept is capable of achieving fuel consumption figures of 3.76 l/100km, with CO2 emissions of 99 g/km.
This betters the most fuel-efficient cars currently available in Australia, the new Toyota Prius and the MINI Cooper D (a BMW brand), both achieving 3.9 l/100km, and splits the pair for emissions: the Cooper D  manages 104 g/km, the Prius 89 g/km.
The astonishing styling of the Vision EfficientDynamics concept has been dictated largely by the drive for superior aerodynamics. A drag coefficient of just 0.22 aiding the car’s fuel efficiency.
By comparison, the new third-gen Toyota Prius achieves a drag coefficient of 0.25.
Measuring 4600mm long, 1900mm wide and 1240mm tall, the Vision concept - built on an aluminium and polycarbonate chassis - weighs in at a relatively sprite 1395kg.
The Vision concept’s exhaust system features a (which BMW has been working on with NASA for some time), developed - as the name suggests - to convert thermal energy in the exhaust into usable electric power.
An energy management system is also featured, using rain sensors and information downloaded to the sat-nav system to forecast driving conditions on the trip ahead and prepare the car’s power supply for the task.

Bugatti Veyron

Not just a super car that carries on the name of racing driver Pierre Veyron, who, while racing for the original Bugatti car manufacturer, won the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1939, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 is the second fastest car in the world and the most powerful, it can easily pass as a super hero`s car like Batman. It has the fastest acceleration speed, reaching 60 mph in 2.6 seconds.
Endowed with W16 engine-16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders fed by four turbochargers, a dual-clutch DSG computer-controlled manual transmission, the Veyron has a length is 4462 mm (175.8 in) a wide of 1998 mm (78.7 in) and hight of 1206 mm (47.5 in). Counting a sum of 10 radiators, for the engine cooling system, for transmission oil, a heat exchanger for the air to liquid intercoolers, for engine oil etc., the car has a power to weight ratio of 529 bhp/tonne.
If we talk about performance we are dazzled by this supercars power to reach 200 and 300 km/h (124 and 186 mph) in 7.3 and respectively 16.7 seconds, wining for herself the name of the quickest-accelerating production car in history. If we count the fact that the top speed of Bugatti Veyron is 253.2 miles per hour (407.5 km/h), a speed limited electronically to prevent tire damage (it can run even faster) we can understand why this spectacular car must consume 40.4 L/100 km  http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com(4.82 mpg) when it`s running at top speed and in city driving 24.1 L/100 km.

A model drove by superstars like Tom Cruise, couldn`t name itself cheap, rising the Bugatti Veyron at least of $1,700,000, a price that measures it`s quality. Many new designs has been released since 2006, the color might have changed, but the speed and power remain the same. http://newcarsgreen.blogspot.com
